Jean-Benoît Charrin

He holds an LLM in international human rights law from the University of Essex.

After gathering some experience at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in 2005, he specialized in the field of ‘the right to water and sanitation’. From 2008 on, he was involved as a consultant in water and sanitation sector assessments, mandated by Governments and NGOs.

These missions led him to Haiti, Paraguay, Liberia, Benin, Bangladesh & Indonesia. In 2010, he co-founded WaterLex, an international NGO specializing on solving implementation challenges of the ‘right to water and sanitation’.

The organization counts today with the support from Human Rights treaty and political bodies experts, such as Ms. Catarina de Albuquerque, UN Human Rights Council Independent Expert on the issue of human rights obligations related to access to safe drinking water and sanitation.
